I have studied the chickens in the courtyard. They have no care in the world. The are free to amble, they peck three grass blades from time to time; they drink water leisurely and bathe in dust. It is the coolest life; no doing the laundry, no cooking; no job. I would like to be a chicken. From tomorrow on I will behave just like that: I will look serenely at the ones around me, I will listen to their words, but I won't take action in any way. And what if the thought of firing me will cross my bosses' minds? It would be better to adopt my cat's attitude - this one does not do a thing, but purrs beautifully and it is nice to everyone.

The moggy looked at the calendar and saw that the fish abstinence began. She made the sign of the cross in front of St. Modestos's icon and thanked for the exemption from the Avaton rule on Mount Athos, from where she brought holy oil and incense and then smuggled them in. She took the basket with the bait and started for the fish market inhabited by the vagabonds from around the area, where you could find all kinds of things on the black market: joints, black roe and milt. She had luck in finding a turbot and eight gobius fish, in exchange for a bait bag made of rat meat. A fine day, she meowed peeking through a mirror shard.

I haven't told ya this one, Alec. Couldn't it wait a little longer, Costeluș? I really need to tell you. Sit down, \'cause I'll lose my train of thoughts, you selfish brat. I climbed on the downpipe in Mila's room, we were sittin' at the edge of the bed and I told her. Take \'em off. Authoritative. She was a bit fuddled, no, Costi, my mother told me to always wear \'em. We are alone, no one sees us. Fine, but if I take \'em off, I can't see either. We were playin' who blinks first, I could not let her with her glasses, it seemed to me that she was cheating. Meanwhile the cat was not blinking at all.
