I had got there much earlier and the wait made my heart beat faster, about to jump out of my chest. And jump it did, when I saw her walking down the alley in that light dress that carressed her body. I don't know where my words came from that day. She looked at me astonished, charmed by my words and the glimmer in my eye, which painted burning desires on her skin. We wandered aimlessly through the magic of our first date until nightfall. What a day! How was I supposed to know it would cost me twenty years of my life?

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In March 2021, the group has 4.500 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
