I need help, people. I don't want to be here. It smells weird, it's wet and cold, dark and too noisy. I don't know who these people are. I don't like it that way, having all eyes on me. I don't want any touches or kisses, and the flowers are absolutely gross. Stop taking pictures. That noisy, restless man is annoying. He sings too loud and off-key. I had sweet dreams about life. Please, I don't want in the water. I want to be at home, in my peace and heaven. Mom, dad, stop the baptism, I think I'm a Buddhist.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In April 2021, the group has 5.600 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
