My file was being examined thoroughly. My good deeds didn't seem to impress him although I had tried to record there as many as possible. However, he took his time to examine my wrongdoings. Every now and then, his face crumpled and he looked at me in disapproval. I had been honest, I hadn't kept anything from him. So I got 508 - the number of years I was going to spend as a spirit until my next reincarnation. 21 more left and I could breathe again. But then you appeared and I got lost in your dreams. Your eyelids were keeping me warm. Thank God you didn't wake up from your coma.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In June 2021, the group has 6.650 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, setting their texts within the limit of 500 symbols (in Romanian language, so in English the limit might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise with an almost daily changed topic. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
