It was raining heavily the day I gave you the kiss. I was shaking in your strong arms but I knew that was no game. For centuries now, I've been listening to you calling me in ballad tone, through water whisper. I am thirsty and not being with you hurts deeply, but I've learned to accept immobility and burden. I often feel knife tips searching for me and then finding my salty trace, leaving numbers carved close to my heart. But I endure the pain while dreaming of you, my love. Today, 2002 is marked by remnants of me and you and the infinite in between.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In June 2021, the group has 6.650 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, setting their texts within the limit of 500 symbols (in Romanian language, so in English the limit might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise with an almost daily changed topic. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
