I was drawing the stairs, two were tiny, one big, one was in the shadows, two were in the sun. In the beginning, the stairs stopped at the beach, the waves embraced them and sank them for a bit, however the steps still climbed. They climbed until they reached the old attic, where grandmother\'s scent still existed, then at the tombs, where the tears were dripping slowly. The stairs continued, two little children are climbing them and grow, a dog is wagging its tail happily and the stairs get filled with smiles and love. Where do these stairs lead? They lead to the depths of the soul and to the passage of time.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In June 2021, the group has 6.650 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
