A woman dressed in an evening gown knocked at my door. I've heard you're the last one. Shut up. If you have heard that, come in. Are you aware that those who fix things can be punished? Yes, I have. Do I come in? Yes, please. How comes that you're so young? I've been doing this for a long time, I stole this craft from my father. Let me see the shoe. A torn heel piece is a trifle for me. As we both know, nowadays it's dangerous on the streets. Yes, I will walk with you. I wish we would get to know each other better. I can't. In order to fix things I have to lead a hermit life.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2021, the group has 7.000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
