I sat surrounded by books all day trying to find out the ultimate truth. One morning, God gave me a map and an envelope. He just told me this: You are only allowed to open it at the destination; you will find the answer inside. With my backpack on, I crossed countries and oceans. In a city I met a man with green eyes. Because I had a journey to finish, I refused love. At the destination, exhausted, I opened the Envelope: The truth is that there is no supreme truth. Now I'm desperately looking around the world for the green-eyed man.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In October 2021, the group has 7.275 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
