The old man stood in the doorway, not daring to enter. Doctor, can you help my old wife? I know she's old, but maybe God gave her more days. She's seriously ill, I don't know what we can do for her. But what do you have in that bag? We brought a goose, eggs and cheese, and a bottle of wine, all made in-house. The doctor, with empty eyes, decided that the woman had no more days, there he was God and there was no incense that drove away the unholy. There should have been another Envelope.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In October 2021, the group has 7.275 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
