I stood on my tiptoes and reached for the sky. I drew it like a curtain over the world. It was gray and fine. I crumpled the fallen sun at my feet and turned it into papyrus. Apparently, my hands had eaten from the embers of despair, if they had such strength. I sat down cross-legged on the water and with the tip of my heart I wrote on the papyrus all the pain of the world. I licked a gray Envelope with tears, put the letter in it, and swallowed it. I lied down in the Envelope sheet of Heaven until I turned to Light.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In October 2021, the group has 7.275 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
