I lied to you. And I lied to myself. When I said that I'd stay until the end. Because I want to break the terms of our contract. And I want to break free of all equations. I don't want to answer questions anymore. I only want to travel to the edge of things. For a while. And stay there outside of time. Without minding what I've left behind. I would like to say Goodbye, but I don't want to open my mouth and breathe in this toxic air between us. I won't stay any longer. And I won't explain. Why.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In October 2021, the group has 7.275 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
