We were young and we were gone on childhood adventures like a pair of all-mighty but, one day, we pushed the limits, the plot thickened by accident, and God altered the development, not all of us managed to run away from the Indians' hut, the water rose upstream, the flood came roaring, catch it, I beg of you, no, God, mother, I couldn't, the waters took him, mother, bring my friend back, children can't be broken like a heart, no goodbye, no funeral, I won't be coming, no. Goodbye.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In October 2021, the group has 7.275 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
