Once, as a child, in the Secret Room of my soul, I wanted to be famous. Every year since then I cram all sorts of banalities into that room: pictures of my wife at the seaside, of the child's baptism, a pile of crumpled drafts, a wooden icon of Judas Thaddeus, a case of beer, a box of margarine with recovered screws, a clock without hands, half a candle. Over the years, I realized how stupid, how trivial, how meaningless it is to want that. Being anonymous - what an experience.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In October 2021, the group has 7.275 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
