Grandson, said the old man in a low voice. Yes, Grandpa. Grandson, you've been taking care of me for the last few years. Eh. No, nephew, what's right is right. Well, look, I want to reward you. Grandpa. I'll tell you the location of the secret room. Oo. You know the forest road to the left of the burned stone by the struck tree. Aa. Doesn't matter. That one leads to the Forest District. Aa. Parallel to it is a narrow path. Walk on it until you come across a meadow. You go in the middle and. The old man fell silent. Grandpa. Grandson, we're exceeding 500 characters.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In October 2021, the group has 7.275 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
