My brother-in-law worked in a centre for the disabled. I went one day to pick him up from work. In the courtyard of the centre, in a wheelchair, a boy with multiple disabilities was looking lovingly at a beautiful girl sitting quietly on a bench near him. Look at that, Dan, how he is looking at her, he seems to be in love. He is. And her? So is she, plus she's blind and deaf and dumb. How did she fall in love? Like in The Little Prince, she saw what was true, her heart was enough. I smiled.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In January 2022, the group has 7.830 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
