On a pedestrian crossing, her boyfriend had been hit by a car after phoning her to say he had a surprise, his girlfriend had been attacked by three strays, leaving her breathless. Their wounds were still bleeding when they met in the park. One look was all it took and she knew she could confess to him how much the ring, found by the police in his pocket, hurt her, and he knew she was the one. They have been together ever since, much to the puzzlement of people who couldn't understand what a beautiful woman could tell a dog.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In January 2022, the group has 7.830 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
