I sit like this, like a clueless person in a world of certainties. I can't even say yes to the end, I can't even say no to the end, I'm just waiting for I don't know what, which will be I don't know how, which will come from I don't know where. It says neither open nor closed, neither permitted nor forbidden access, and I don't know either, if anyone should dare to enter, whether I am facing nowhere or somewhere, nothing or something else, me or someone else. Undecided, ajar, I just wait. I sit like this.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In January 2022, the group has 7.830 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
