I'll be a better man tomorrow. I don't have to do anything that others say from tomorrow on. I will only do what I want and I will be happy. I'll leave behind worries and fear of approaching me; no ugly thought will haunt me. That's it, I'm pulling the latch. I shall smile constantly, I shall sing, I shall dance, I shall celebrate every day with joy and gratitude. Nothing will spoil my zen from tomorrow on, she promised, and then she slept quietly. Through the cracked open door, the doubt crept imperceptibly.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In January 2022, the group has 7.830 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
