There was a faint scent of violet in the air. Since he took it out of the hinges and put it on the kitchen table to lay the dead for three days for the vigil, it has never closed perfectly. He anointed her, called a locksmith, but in vain. It didn't close for nothing. She was kicking her angrily. Eventually he resigned. Fear, doubt, small joys, high hopes began to flood the door. Okay, all you have to do is stay like that, he said and hit her once more with a whip. Where death enters, life always creeps in.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In January 2022, the group has 7.830 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
