A bald-haired girl fluttered her wings softly at the thought. A boy with a split pupil filled his cups with freshly made liqueur from a gentle winter like a grandmother. A secret kept in the blue of a tarn with living water was about to be drunk on an empty stomach. Wait, what? Cut. Girl in cloud nine, please put that wing down, it looks horrible on you, and you, boy, take those mugs from here, please, they're in the frame. Grandma, please leave the milk on the table and leave the room. We are working.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In January 2022, the group has 7.830 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
