He scattered his fingers and felt the thin strands. He stood up slowly so he would not wake the others up and went down, in the back of the cave. He smashed the stone off the tough wall. He put the strands next to each other and suddenly they lit up in the first few sparks. The light in his palm went up his arm to the top of his head, lightning his face for a second, and then it went down to his feet. The ash slipped through his fingers but his smile stayed.  Here are the skeletons of the first humanoids, the guide explained, and here in the back of the cave, seems to be the prints of a caged animal.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In January 2022, the group has 7.830 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
