So let's go back. What were you doing with the frying pan? Pancakes. At 1 AM. Yeah, it relaxes me to make pancakes. You were stressed. Yeah, we had been fighting for hours. I wanted to make myself something sweet. To calm down. What were you fighting about? She told me she was in love, that she was leaving me and taking the kids with her. And what did you do? I hit her on the head. With a blunt object. What's that? With the frying pan, you hit her with the frying pan. Yes. And then. And then I made pancakes. Then you went to the kids. Yeah, I made too many pancakes and woke them up.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In March 2022, the group has 8,050 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
