You see, look, I sit here and swallow. Yes, either a meatball or a steak, and that's how the day goes by, and we come home, me full of food, she tired of carols. And she doesn't buy much either, last week she bought a flower. I mean little things. Now she has just called me that she still did not find anything, but she keeps looking. I consume more at the restaurant, but she doesn't mind either. And to be honest, you know she's fierce and I don't want people to say in the next couple of days: look at that one, he died from too much Ikea.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2022, the group has 9,000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
