It started with a summer rain, the man still in strength worked skilfully near the household. He looked up at the sky troubled, the clouds were gathering menacingly. He lived with his family in an endless meadow, the edge of the forest was found near the chandeliers. When he looked down at the bushes of a few sticks, hundreds of paired eyes were looking at him expectantly and he understood, hearing the deep voice again. Where can I find wood and get you, Voice? I'm giving you a maze of boxes full of wood to assemble, I'll call it IKEA. You have 24 hours to make a boat.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2022, the group has 9,000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
