Just one? Billions, in which you squandered your eternity, then sent them wandering on a blue marble, tossed somewhere in the endless darkness. You told them they resembled you, gave them a slate of laws, spoke to them through thunder, through split seas, and through a star that filled the whole sk ywith light one night long ago. You thought that by sharing it, your loneliness would end. But it kept growing. And you look in wonder at those who, down below, far away, without you, melt their loneliness and become immortal by telling.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2022, the group has 9,000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
