He rolled up the sleeves of his cloak and pinned his wispy white hair to the top of his head. He looked at the horizon with soft eyes, and the thought came. The salt that appeared between the valleys and canyons dimmed its glow with the amber red that flowed to the core of the world. Stavila put the trovants, spirits dug into the stone, from his fingers sprang the living fires, his gift to the night, while he gave the day the intensity of the blue mist that reminded him of home. He wanted to leave, but he didn't seem happy. He turned and took out a seed from his sleeve. You.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2022, the group has 9,000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
