Is your neighbor driving you crazy with the number of times a night he goes to the bathroom? Does he have a squeaky floor and gives you nightmares? Does he slam the doors with such zest that your heart trembles in your chest and the pictures shake on the walls? Is the radio always on and you don't like the music? Are the news at his TV slowly cracking through your skull and slipping dark thoughts into your brain? Turn up the silence at least in the afterlife. It's always better in-between 12 walls than 4. We're waiting for you. We, the living. Are you leaving?

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In September 2022, the group has 9,250 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
