Grandpa is the only one left alive. Black magic damned my family into the fire of Hell. I escaped because I cast a powerful incantation. Few wizards have ever succeeded. Unfortunately, it affects both of us. As grandpa ages, I get younger. Every time he loses a tooth, I grow a baby tooth. I know that on the day of his death I will be born. We try to postpone the event until the end of the year, when with a spell discovered by my mother, grandfather gains and I lose time.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In October 2022, the group has 9,400 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
