I made the heavens and the earth on day 1. I made a big house on earth and called it school. I made the toilet in the yard, so it didn't smell. I made the teachers on day 2 and bestowed divine grace upon them. Not all of them took it. I made the roll books on day 3. On day 4 - school bells and desks. On day 5 - the children. And the children grew up and bore other children, as is wont. I made the Ministry of Education on day 6, and told them to move the toilets inside the schools after all. They said OK. It's the 7th day and I'll be damned if I can catch a break.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In November 2022, the group has 9,580 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
