He tiptoed into the heart crematorium, as if wanting not to put out the fire, and crouched behind a metal mortuary cabinet, waiting for the body of the one who had been his girlfriend. He was carefully holding the vial of Life Potion received from The Faceless One. He had sold his soul for two more years with her, knowing that in this way they would have the chance of having offspring. When he saw the white hospital gown and her lying on the mobile bed with her bare feet sticking out from under the sheet, he jumped on top of her like a panther and poured the liquid down her throat. Happy birthday my love.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In November 2022, the group has 9,580 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
