The invitation only read: Villa Savini. The taxi had dropped her off far from her destination, and she found the house by following the sound of the music which echoed on the other side of the wall. She just got inside, but she already felt out of place. She was wearing a cocktail dress, whereas the other guests were wearing masked ball costumes. The Satyr served her drinks, Medusa asked her to dance. At the dinner table she was seated between the Sphinx and the Centaur, while the Lion did not cease to stare at her. She woke up next to him in the morning, vaguely remembering what happened during the rest of the evening. The hickeys on her body woke her up and, just when she was about to leave, the Lion shook his mane, whispering lasciviously: you can't leave, the door is closed.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In November 2022, the group has 9,580 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
