Chubby, glasses, a tomboy, a clown. The little groups in school could only be taken apart by her effervescent humour, forced many times, but no one paid that much attention. The girls in her class were untouchable, she would never belong in group of those slender beauties. The boys would ask her to play football sometimes. During the day she laughed, at night a stray razor on her forearm tried to silence her inner scream. She turned it into art. Dancing, acting, singing, sweat, Broadway here I come. Year later, the same people were standing in line to get her autograph.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In November 2022, the group has 9,580 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
