He wanted light, so he made light. He wanted stars, so he made stars. He made everything he wanted to, but he didn't feel fulfilled at all. Something was missing. He cupped his cheeks with his palms and lost himself in thoughts. He thought of a blue planet. He liked the idea and began projecting how it would be to have life on that planet. He imagined the waters, the mountains, all kinds of animals and above all, the supreme creation: HUMANS. Smiling, Satan put out his cigar and nudged Him friendly: a penny for Your thought, Lord.

I'm a gold digger with a preference for the elderly. I get those kids' need to be the first to someone's flower, but think of being the last one to throw a bouquet in someone's grave, oh, that would be an honor. While she takes her last breath, cause you were that good, you can gloat over cash. To the younger ones you can kick off, they crackle like ripe watermelons, they smear you up with life, but they are nothing compared to the gasps of the ultimate orgasm. Yes, fine, Lola, I'm coming now. I'll finish this live and come and change your oxygen tank. Cha-ching, a coin was received.

I was born on the 1st of July, so that's why my name is Julia. I was five days old when old Lazar, grandpa's Petre father, grabbed his suitcase with half a pig stole by Gherase and traveled all day with personal trains, from near Brăila up to the middle of Ardeal to see his grand-granddaughter. When he got inside the house, the first thing was to come and see me. I laughed and his face lightened up. Then he took out a silver coin. This is for your laughter. I still have it, in my earrings. Then he went for the pig in the suitcase.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In June 2024, the group has 13,100 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, Luchian Abel, Monica Aldea, and Vlad Mușat. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
