I'm alone and it pisses me off. At first contact, only I made the great leap; hopefully the others will come soon. I don't want to be the only one on this empty, shiny expanse. I don't want to be seen, known, I don't want to die before my time. Between me and the great being that feeds me, there is a strong bond. Yesterday, a voice from the abyss spoke to both of us: keep calm, you silly boy; I can't tell if you have pubic lice or regular lice. Only you, Mișu, could be both bald and licey at the same time.

I am the tenant in the attic and in the evening I hear the owner's wife arguing with him: you smell like beer, you always lie down, I wait for you and clean the house but you do nothing, you ignore me. He snores. I haven't heard from him in a while. Not even her screaming with anger, but only with pleasure in my arms. Her breasts are silhouetted against the night sky, I sigh, but she dances endlessly in her ecstasy. Suddenly she tells me, tomorrow I'm not cleaning anymore and I'm coming to you, you're the best new guy I've had. I am afraid, as if I am standing on a crater ready to swallow me.

Prince Charming had been unemployed for two years. His father, Emperor Green, was red with rage and could no longer see him fiddle about. One day, for fear of an earthquake, the lad went up to the moon and quietly stole the Richter scale. This little one loved the Moon madly and had a great time sipping on celestial brandy and playing tag defying gravity with Neil Armstrong. He also had credit, five lei per month, which he used to call Earth four times a month. He would go down, because he misses Ileana, but he has no way to pay the debt to Nuțu, so he stays for another month.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In September 2024, the group has 13,320 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, Luchian Abel, Monica Aldea, and Vlad Mușat. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
