She was wearing only underwear and peeling potatoes in the tight and heated kitchen. The sun had killed any trace of passion. So tell me, if you're that smart, what came first, the chicken or the egg? What was I to tell her, that this problem is and isn't a paradox at the same time? If we're talking chronologically, the same egg and the same chicken that came out of it, the egg was clearly first, but if you look at it philosophically, it is a paradox, since just a mature chicken can lay an egg, that's Creation and just the egg can initiate a chicken, that's Genesis, the cosmogonic egg. I look at her legs again and say nothing.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In October 2022, the group has 9,400 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
