I didn't even notice when she left, although many years had passed since I buried her. She was very beautiful and full of energy. She had a serene forehead and a contagious smile. She left unexpectedly, but I'm still watching over her. And sometimes I exhume her and take her in my arms. I breathe some more life over her, I enjoy her pulsation, the dreams and the fairy tales. And when she falls asleep again, I prolong the wake as much as possible. I bury her shallowly, I sprinkle light earth on top of her, I laugh for her, I cry for her, and return to adult life.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In February 2021, the group has 4.300 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
