The sky's belly full of night was slowly circling the North Star. Drunk with summer's perfume, the moon broke away from above, sliding on a pile of rays and crawling in the temple which always had an open window. She caressed the forehead of The-One-Who's-Gonna-Come, slipping on his left eyebrow, resting for a moment of his chubby cheek, then kissing him. The place her lips touched got hotter, and life coursed restlessly through his jade body. No one knows what happened next. At dawn, the temple was a handful of smoking ash.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In October 2022, the group has 9,400 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
