Take notes: red thread from the crocheted stockings of the dead, a piece of choice from the wedding dress, the 5$ bill from the too big bra for her spinster's breasts, how would she have spit on us if she had known - in her entire life she had not worn wires. And when you kiss her goodbye on the forehead, make sure some chrism remains on your lips. You pay an akathist, let a candle burn for 11 seconds, and then you blow as one blows into a soup. And on Monday you'll receive a message from your girl, listen to me, may the wrath of the Almighty come on me if this spell doesn't work.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In February 2021, the group has 4.300 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
